Visitors for Family Day Weekend

My parents came to visit on the Family Day long-weekend. Except they headed south again the day before Family Day!! At least we had good memories to think about on Family day. They arrived Thursday PM and we headed out dog sledding bright and early on Friday AM.

What a blast. Mom had always wanted to go dog sledding. We had a Siberian Husky named Sarge who would pull us on a sled from tree to tree all the way to the leash-free dog park. Then we would push the sled home.

Reuben was our 'musher' and mom bundled up standing on the runner for a different view. We rode half the time sitting in the dogsled and half standing up. What a blast!! The dog's pull 3 ppl max at a time so dad went on his with Reuben later.

This is some sort of a closed-cabin 4 wheel skidoo that we saw on the way home. There are all kind of funny looking vehicles up here. These northerners love their winter-sports. You know your in the north when you hear the whine of snowmobiles!

We went on an impromptu snowmobile ride when I took my parents to visit the Matheson folks. 5 people, 5 machines and lots of fun!! We only got the machines stuck a few times. No wonder when the snow was so deep. Dad tried to walk away from his machine and he sunk right to his hip in snow.

My parents stayed at the south end of the field on Sunday night to get a head start home on Family Day. Then on Monday afternoon we got a surprise visit from Carson. We visited all the Timmins folk then he went south ahead of us. We figured that while the camera was out we would get a fun companion photo...
